Hello,
βοΈ Happy holidays!
This will be our last edition until after Christmas, when Iβm planning a special on econometrics.
I live to give.
(To be clear, that one will be a paid post.)
Thank you for all your participation and patience this year. I hope you have a lovely, relaxing break.

As we saw earlier this week in hi, tech., Twitter continues to go loco:
Well, even loco-er.
Apparently, Elon Musk will now search for a new CEO and I must admit, my calendar for 2023 is looking rather open π
However, this series about Twitter alternatives isnβt just about Twitter.
In fact, there is a general sense of ennui with the existing social networks that predates the arrival of the worldβs richest baby.
In their search for eternal growth, social networks have sacrificed the friends-focused experience of their younger selves in favour of content-driven discovery graphs.
In real terms, that creates distance between people - even alienation - in a space that was supposed to bring people together. The likes of BeReal have already capitalised on this by offering a stripped back version of social media that is less addictive.
Apparently, a lot of people start Substacks in January. If youβre interested in starting your own and want some advice, let me know!
